DRAG ILLUSTRATED GETS “DIALED IN”

KIRKSVILLE, MO (August 8, 2014) – Drag Illustrated Media today released the digital edition of its highly popular, fourth annual Sportsman Special Issue, following the mailing of the award-winning print edition to subscribers around the globe.
DI August82014“Being that we don’t owe allegiance to any sanctioning body or specific segment of drag racing, we’re free to cover the sport from top to bottom, left to right,” says Drag Illustrated Editor-in-Chief Wes Buck. “It’s something we’re tremendously proud of, but it also leaves us with a lot of ground to cover over the course of every year’s 12 issues. Well-knowing the role sportsman and grassroots racers play in our industry, we’ve always believed they deserved more than a mention here and there, and that’s why we developed the Sportsman Special Issue, our annual nod to some of the best, most interesting and relatable racers in the sport.”

Drag Illustrated’s Sportsman Special Issue isn’t limited to one variation of sportsman racing, instead covering the gamut – from Top Sportsman and Top Dragster to footbrake, no-box and class racing, as well as high-level Top Alcohol categories. 

“For guys like Glenn Butcher, who landed the cover of this year’s Sportsman Special, Top Alcohol Dragster hitter Chris Demke, Super Stocker Brad Zaskowski and the many others profiled in DI #89, it’s pretty special – validating, even – to see themselves featured on the pages of the same magazine that has been covering drag racing superstars like John Force, Jason Scruggs and Don Garlits for nearly eight years. Additional print copies of Drag Illustrated’s Sportsman Special Issue are available in limited quantity. 

“We can’t deny the exposure presented by our digital edition, which is available for free on our website and gets over a million views annually, but we know that there’s something special about the printed word,” continues Buck. “Every year we’re pleasantly surprised by the demand for additional print copies, so we’ve had to do extended print runs on several of our special issues. From racers who are featured wanting to buy cases of the magazine for friends, family and sponsors to advertisers wanting copies to hand out at their shops and at events, we’re given a fairly regular reminder that amongst this group of people print is still the gold standard.”
