2016 Camaro SS LT-1 gets blown by ProCharger!

Adding another LT-1 to the ProCharger family!

Without a doubt ProCharger has become the proven leader in LT-1 forced induction. Since the release of the C7 Corvette 2.5 years ago, and new GM LT-1 Trucks and SUV’s shortly after, adding supercharged boost to this new direct injection LT-1 engine has become mainstream. Thanks to highly efficient ProCharger head-units and air-to-air intercoolers, creating supercharged monsters ranging from 650HP to a mind bending 1,200HP has become the new “normal.” With that being said, it’s our pleasure to announce that the new 2016 Camaro SS can now be added to the list of ProCharger blown LT-1’s. This blog is going to cover the details about this fresh new system that’s about to begin shipping.

Bolt on 150+ HP and beyond!

That’s right, with just 7 psi on pump gas, your 2016 Camaro SS can enjoy a gain of 150+ HP thanks to our HO Intercooled System with it’s P-1SC-1 head-unit. Full systems come with our proven tuning calibrations and a handheld programmer, to make DIY installs a breeze. Higher boost levels and horsepower gains of up to 50% are possible with an Intercooled Tuner Kit and custom tuning, and even higher with modified motors. For hyper-custom racing builds, F-Series supercharger models up to the record setting F-1A-94 can be installed without the need for trimming or additional brackets.

Billet Bracket System with Dedicated Belt Drive

Since we know it won’t take long before 2016 Camaro customers ask for the F-1A-94 head-unit, and 4 digit power numbers, we designed this HO system to be ready, out of the gate, for huge power numbers.  To get a head start on designing a totally new system for this next generation Camaro , ProCharger engineers started with GM full vehicle CAD models, as well as having ProCharger engineers on site at the GM measuring session months before the cars release. ProCharger created a billet bracket design utilizing robust mounting points on the LT-1 motor for maximum bracket strenght. This system will firmly hold ProCharger head units ranging in size from a P-1SC-1 up to an F-1A-94. No removal of any OEM parts is needed with this bracket installation, which not only speeds up the install, but it also ensures that all factory braking, cooling, and oiling systems on the car work just as GM intended.

Using a patented crank pulley design, we are able to secure a 7.65″ supercharger drive pulley onto the factory harmonic balancer. The ProCharger crank pulley works by using a system of “cam-locks” to securely grip the factory balancer, taking the load off the crank bolt, and ensuring years of service without worry. Combining this 7.65″ crank pulley with our robust ProCharger tensioner near the supercharger pulley, the system was designed for maximum belt wrap. This ensures maximum belt traction as the power levels of these systems get pushed well beyond the factory 7 psi system offering. With the best belt wrap possible, ProCharger’s tensioner is unique in design in that its not only spring loaded, but also allows the customer to add as much pre-load adjustment as they want into the belt. This tensioner has already been proven, in similar applications, to support 1300+HP when used with dedicated 8-rib belts, so handling the factory 7 psi is no stress at all.

This system was designed to be the easiest Camaro supercharger system install we have ever offered (5-6 hour install time), and you can change the pulley and 8-rib belt without removing the bracket or the supercharger.

Two Intercooler Options

GM spent a great deal of time on the airflow design of this new Camaro SS, from the new front fascia, to the three front mounted radiators. With this in mind, ProCharger decided intercoolers specifically designed for the Camaro’s horsepower and cooling needs was in order.

Starting with a fresh core designs, the cross flow section of the intercooler core was increased in size to eliminate pressure drop as much as possible, while retaining cooling capacity. Understanding that customers power levels and goals will vary, ProCharger designed two intercooler models for this HO supercharger system.

Both intercooler options do not require any cooling systems to be removed on this new Camaro. These systems will come with one piece of preformed-silicone charge tubing–from the intercooler to throttle body. This helps create the best airflow possible, and also eliminates any chance of rattles or vibrations caused by metal tubing, in tight spaces (such as around the headlamps).  Another added benefit of the silicone hoses around these hot radiators, is the added insulation it provides to the cool air charge inside the tubing.

Tuning included in full systems

Tuning for full systems is included with the 7 psi stock system offering. This comes in the form of a simple-to-use hand held programmer, that also allows the customer to monitor and data log the cars systems. This handheld programmer also comes with the ability for OBD2 code scanning as well. With long-term reliability in mind, these tunes are set up conservatively from the factory to account for fuel variations across the country. As always, more power can be had from the base system with custom tuning from your dealer or tuning shop.

100% Reversible

ProCharger knows that there is always a chance that someone might eventually sell their Camaro and want to return it to stock. With that in mind, ProCharger engineering’s took the time to make sure  you can return the car to 100% OEM stock.  Nothing on your Camaro will be trimmed/cut/bent or modified in any manor.

Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger Kit with Air-To-Water Intercooler for 2011 Ford Mustang GT with 4.6L

Edelbrock is excited to announce the release of their E-Force Supercharger system for 2011 Ford Mustangs equipped with a 5.0L 4V engine. Based in large part on the existing supercharger for 2005-10 Mustangs, this new kit will allow the 2011 Mustang to produce 559 horsepower and 503 ft-lbs. of torque with low boost. This design is engineered and manufactured by Edelbrock and features an Eaton® Twin Vortices Series (TVS®) 2300 GEN VI rotor assembly – the same internals used on the new Corvette ZR-1.

The supercharger assembly is integrated into Edelbrock’s unique intake manifold for a truly seamless design with minimal components. The intake features 15″ long runners for maximum low-end torque and an integrated bypass valve that helps reduce parasitic loss under light throttle, which improves mileage potential. Keeping the air cool is a 110 square inch, high capacity, air to water intercooler – the largest of its kind available on the market today – and a full face low temp heat exchanger. It has been designed to meet 50-State emissions and work with all OEM emissions equipment (E.O. Number D-215-77).

Paxton NOVI 2200 Supercharger Kit with Air-To-Air Intercooler for 2011 Ford Mustang with 5.0L

Stillen Supercharger System for Nissan 370z and Infiniti G37

fter more than a year of development and testing, we are proud to announce the release of the STILLEN supercharger for the VQ37 engine. As with all R&D at STILLEN, we assessed our ultimate goals and priorities during the development phase as we planned this supercharger kit. Some of the most important factors to the development team were hood clearance, expanding power later on, CARB legality, air to water intercooler, reliability, and obviously performance. We feel that we have met or exceeded each of our goals. When looking at different forms of forced induction the engineering team and Steve Millen decided that the best choice would be the Vortech centrifugal supercharger. We have partnered with Vortech in the past on vehicles like the Nissan Maxima and Pathfinder, Mercedes CLK430 and others. One of the great things about the Vortech supercharger is the ease of installation as well as the ability to easily add more boost and increase power. The engineers at STILLEN also wanted a supercharger system that offered little to no maintenance needs so the ultimate decision was made for the V-3 series supercharger.

The Vortech V-3 series supercharger uses a self-contained lubrication system. That means no need for running additional lines from the oil pan or separate coolers. Simply bolt on the blower and you’re good to go. Oil changes are very easy with the drain tube located on the bottom of the blower and the fill tube located on top. Changing the oil in the supercharger itself is a quick ten minute job.

One of the most important aspects of supercharging is also cooling. Superchargers build a lot of heat during the compression process so the air needs to be cooled back down before entering the engine for maximum performance. To do this we have incorporated a cast aluminum intake manifold which houses an air-to-water intercooler. During our testing we saw temperature drops of over 100 degrees of heat after the intercooler immediately before the air enters the engine. Air-to-water intercoolers have been proven to be the most efficient intercoolers available. The intercooler system uses its own separate coolant path that does not get routed in with the engine coolant. An added benefit to the air-to-water intercooler design is that the heat exchanger (mounted in front of the radiator to cool the coolant) is very thin. The Nissan 370Z has already shown that these engines have an issue with overheating. To reduce the risk of overheating we have strategically placed the heat exchanger and intakes to ensure that we have sufficient air flow to all of the vital components and additional coolers without impeding airflow to the radiator.

Airflow was another major consideration for the supercharger system. Because even stock 370Z’s are seeing increased oil temperatures in just a few laps around a race course, we wanted to make sure that the heat exchanger and intakes did not interfere with our other coolers. We are very excited to confirm that the STILLEN race oil cooler, automatic transmission cooler, and power steering cooler all fit perfectly together. To bring the air into the intake path we have chosen to go with a Y-pipe designed cast aluminum intake tube that relocate the MAF sensors, retaining a “draw through” configuration. This means that the MAF sensor are located in front of the forced induction device to get an accurate reading of air volume. We chose to do this because this is what NISSAN recommends. During our many years of building superchargers for NISSAN vehicles as well as our great working relationship with NISSAN we have learned that the MAF sensor that NISSAN uses is not designed to be “blown through”, or post forced induction. Example of this are the two NISSAN vehicles that use forced induction from the factory. The NISSAN GT-R and the 300ZX. Both cars use a draw through MAF sensor setup.

At the end of the day, the most important aspect of any forced induction system is “Performance.” Performance is more than dyno numbers or horsepower claims. Performance means, how does it “perform” at a race track? How does it “perform” in daily driving conditions? These questions had to be answered during our testing so we went to El Toro air force base with our auto gearbox Infiniti G37. This car was equipped with our race oil cooler and auto trans cooler. This days testing consisted of multiple 0-140mph runs.. Hard driving on a very tight course with excessive revving and redlining. Then we parked the car for five minutes to let everything heatsoak and get really warm then immediately ran another series of 0-140 mph runs. We could not be happier with the way the car was able to handle these extreme tests. During those tests we had numerous data logging devices inside the car keeping track of a number of different data points.
